TRYST WITH THE TRIO 3.0

A new phoenix incarnate

“Any kind of crisis can be good. It wakes you up.” Ryan Reynolds
Covid19 has been haunting the entire world. There was a sudden halt in the events, meetings and routine of activities even in Toastmasters
All the professional brains were pooled in to tide over the predicament. Immediately thereafter, there was a vibrant exchange of thoughts and ideas to strategies and to evolve remedial measures to handle the pandemic situation.
In order to formulate a strategic front it was formatted under two headings
Namely:-
To spell out the crisis in different details
Work out the modus operandi to develop adequate procedures for the continuity of operations.
A
1 Regular meeting were called off
2 One to one personal interaction and networking were deferred
3 All district and officers training programmes were cancelled
4 The hard core Contests itself had to be put off
5 The very flagship event, i.e. Annual conference had to be suspended

B.
Online zoom came to rescue, we are proud to say that we have not cancelled even a single meeting on the grounds of Covid19
On the matter of personal interaction we could not only meet our regular members but also rope in national and international involvement
On the training front, we could bring past international presidents, world champion of public speaking, past and present International Directors, Past and Present Regional advisors and renowned starworts without any financial commitments. This was indeed a windfall, as an outcome of pandemic

Contest participation has substantially increased because members from any part of the world could join the wagon
Toastmasters Interactional displayed timely generosity to its members by offering different wavers, it’s a testimonial of the care and concern.
Oncoming flagship programme Spotlight21 will be naturally reinforced with the all the extravagance of the technological marvel
The resulting highlights will be the mega presence of international president, celebrities, champions, winners and culminating in fun night and awards.
So gear up and tighten your belts for the jumbo episode
It is a clear documentation of a new phoenix incarnated out of a crisis

I cannot believe it that we have finished 3/4th of the program year already! The PQD team has been quite busy during the Jan – March quarter. We started the year with the mid-year District officers training where we had our very own Past International Director DTM Nagaraja Rao and one of the CGDs from District 41 DTM Ayan Pal be a part of our training. The second round of Club officers training program was organized by the Division Directors on 3 different dates in Jan and was supported by the PQD team members on request. We had 828 club officers trained and 134 clubs meeting their training credit on the DCP. The Division directors along with their Area directors and extended teams, spearheaded the entire training from end to end and hosted fabulous events!

PQD Awards update :
11 members so far are eligible for the Speakers Citation award
116 members have completed Level 5 and are eligible for the Pathkeepers award
68 Clubs have won Early Achievers’ Award
74 clubs have won Super 7 award
11 clubs have conducted YLPs and 22 coordinators are eligible for the YLP Coordinator Citation

We have some work to do in terms of Pathways Adoption! We as a district have only 87% of our members enrolled in pathways. Considering that the Pathways program is the only program that is available to the member, we would like to see this number reach 100% . For this sake, we urge every single club officer to ensure that the new members who join the club enroll in their path, within the first week of joining.

Almost all the clubs across District 121 have by now conducted their club contests and even participated in their area contests. It has been amazing to see the contest checklists used extensively and quality contests conducted across all 4 regions of D121. The upcoming quarter is an exciting time for the winners of the area contests to battle it at the Division contests and make it to the prestigious virtual stage of the District finals at Spotlight 2021.

In the PQD team, the final quarter will be fully focussed on 1 single Word – DISTINGUISHED – We will be working with our District officers and our club leaders to ensure every single club in our District 121 aims to become Distinguished and above. Let’s #beyourbest and ensure that our District reaches the greatest heights possible, in its very first year of formation!

#BeYourBest.

Dear toastmasters of District 121
The year 2020 has been a mixed bag for toastmasters. It has been a year like none other, as you are all aware. I say mixed bag because there have been positives and we have not gone silently into the sunset helplessly. In a year beset by issues that cropped up due to the pandemic, toastmasters were a community that showed the world that resilience is what sets apart victims from achievers. At a time when educational institutions and offices functioned online, we switched to the online mode and I must say, took advantage of all the benefits it offers. There were times when we must have wondered at the depths of our own reserves and felt greatly assured by our ability to persevere. Today, we pat our backs for all that we’ve been able to achieve in the face of almost insurmountable odds and comfort ourselves by saying let’s do better in the days to come.
The CGD’s team has been a beehive of activities and we are quietly satisfied with what the district has been able to achieve. There is no doubt we could do more, after all there is no end to excellence that can be achieved. But let me say that many of our ADs and DVDs have put in humungous efforts to ensure that clubs have not fallen, member retention has happened and most joyful news of all, new clubs have been chartered. Yes, new clubs have been chartered in a pandemic situation where in-person meetings are not happening..
This has made us very excited about what 2021 has in store for all of us. This will be a year of growth and new opportunities for everyone at District 121. We appreciate your continued commitment to the movement and our growth. We are confident we can make this a rewarding experience and a great year.
Our passion for this movement is our most treasured asset and the foundation on which we have built our District. The only way to protect what we have and improve is to challenge ourselves, meet our commitments, innovate in our ways of functioning and deliver excellence.
As members, by understanding, and embracing our club’s problems, vision, project objectives and goals, we will be able to build stronger and lasting relationships that will yield long term results. As leaders, we need to work so that the members of our Areas and Divisions will start to look at us as their trusted advisors, folks they can count on.
We recognize the importance of the initiatives of TI and we need to ensure that we take special care to meet and exceed our goals. We need to keep investing in our existing members, improving our meeting quality through activities and initiatives and also retain our most important asset, our members. At the same time we have to attract new members to keep clubs healthy and functioning at peak efficiency.
Best wishes to you and your families for a healthy and happy 2021 from the office of the CGD.
