District Executive Meeting & District Council Meeting
IDEAS AND INITIATIVES

The District Executive Meeting took place on 19th September at 6:00 pm, followed by the District Council Meeting at 7:00 pm, online, on Zoom. The meeting was a record in itself as more than 85% percent of District Officers were present for both the meetings!
With inspirational words and the authority vested in her as the District Director, DTM Nirmala Lilly called the meeting to order. Using the Polling feature provided by Zoom, TM Jagriti Pandey, District Administration Manager, laid down the guidelines for Polling for the proceedings of the meeting that included a series of proposals and the adoption of the proposals.
One of the main proposals was the District Budget for the year 2020-2021, which was proposed by the District Finance Manager, TM Shawn Jeff Christopher, and was adopted by the Council members.
The Council members were also provided with updates on events taking place in the District. The first report was presented by the District Public Relations Manager, TM Neil Antony Gonsalves who spoke about the PR initiatives and future plans. Secondly, all ten Division Director’s presented a 2-3 minutes nutshell report highlighting the achievements of their respective Divisions.
The final report was presented by the District Trio. DTM Savitha Salian, Club Growth Director, spoke about the three newly chartered clubs, the position of renewals in the District, the clubs’ position in forming Sister Club Clusters and finally the importance of Club Presidents finishing Moments of Truth, in their respective clubs, before the month’s end. DTM Vanitha Rangarajan, Program Quality Director talked about Pathways adoption in all the clubs and highlighted the latest initiative from the PQD team of having a District Level Education Program every week, with presenters being Champions of Public Speaking, worldwide. The last report was presented by the District Director, who summarized the entire session and motivated Council members to strive for more.
The concluding part of the meeting was the discussion about the District Conference and Contest for 2020-2021. DTM Nirmala Lilly introduced the Virtual Annual Conference Chair, DTM Sindhuja Nanduri and wished her luck for the event. She also proposed the two District Contests which would be held this year – the International Speech Contest and the Tall Tales Contest. Members voted and the proposal was finalized.
The first District Council Meeting for the term concluded successfully with the adoption of all proposals. The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 pm.
